1. Extra-cranial arterial system:
– Test perform: Carotid and Vertebral arterial Duplex ultrasound examination
– Target: To exam the main arteries the neck which supply blood to the brain, face and brain.
– Preparation: patient is required to expose their neck with minimise jewellery.
Ultrasound exam will be performed with patient lying comfortable on their back.
2. Abdominal arterial Duplex ultrasound examination:
- Target: to exam the main arteries in stomach which supply blood to the legs or internal organs including kidney, liver, spleen, bowel and pelvic organs.
- Test perform:
Aorta and Iliac arterial Duplex ultrasound examination,
Renal arterial Duplex ultrasound examination
Visceral arterial Duplex ultrasound examination
- Preparation: patient is required to fast for 6 hours, with exception to plain liquid and medication. Diabetic patient will have special instructions.
- Ultrasound exam will be performed with patient lying comfortable on their back and expose their stomach.
3. Peripheral arterial Duplex ultrasound examination
– Test perform: leg arterial Duplex ultrasound examination, with conjunction to Aorto-iliac scan if required.
– Target: To exam the main arteries the leg which supply blood to the leg and foot
– Preparation: patient is required to expose their full leg from groin to ankle.
Ultrasound exam will be performed with patient lying comfortable on their back.
Please take your compression stocking off 30 minutes before the Ultrasound scan. If you have bandage on, please discuss with our team re dressing option.
